My Funeral
Soundtrack
I
pondered on how I would like my personal funeral to be. So I assembled some appropriate funeral music for myself. A black mass
with black candles burning on a pink-shaped stage with the naked emotions of
these songs singing over it all. It would be appropriate for The Beach
Boys’ harmonies sound like church music. Many of these songs are codas. I
expect no one to wear black outfits. I’d rather have people come in rather
multi‑colorful outfits. Rainbows of balloons will be let go once I am
lowered into burial. And personal reflections will be remembered. I want people to go
away from my funeral and think, “That was
the best damn funeral I’ve ever been
to!” So here the

What good is the dawn
That grows into day
The sunset at night
Or living this way
For I have the warmth of the sun
(Warmth of the sun)
Within me at night
(Within me at night)
The love of my life
She left me one day
I cried when she said
"I don't feel the same way"
Still I have the warmth of the sun
(Warmth of the sun)
Within me tonight
(Within me tonight)
I'll dreams of her arms
And though they're not real
Just like she's still there
The way that I feel
My love's like the warmth of the sun
(Warmth of the sun)
It won't ever die
(It won't ever die)
by The Beach Boys
Well its been building up inside of me
For oh I don't know how long
I don't know why
But I keep thinking
Something's bound to go wrong
But she looks in my eyes
And makes me realize
And she says "Don't worry baby"
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Everything will turn out alright
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
I guess I should've kept my mouth shut
When I started to brag about my car
But I can't back down now
I pushed the other guys too far
She makes me come alive
And makes me wanna drive
When she says "Don't worry baby"
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Everything will turn out alright
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
She told me Baby, when you race today
Just take along my love with you
And if you know how much I loved you
Baby nothing could go wrong with you"
Oh what she does to me
When she makes love to me
And she says "Don't worry baby"
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Everything will turn out alright
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
Don't worry baby
by The Beach Boys
There's a world where I can go and tell my secrets
to
In my room, in my room
In this world I lock out all my worries and my fears
In my room, in my room
Do my dreaming and my scheming
Lie awake and pray
Do my crying and my sighing
Laugh at yesterday
Now it's dark and I'm alone
But I won't be afraid
In my room, in my room
In my room, in my room
In my room, in my room
by The Beach Boys
She belongs there left with her liberty
Never known as a non-believer
She laughs and stays in the won-won-won- wonderful
She knew how together the forest went
God reached softly and moved her body
One golden locket
Quite young and loving her mother and father
Farther down the path was a mystery
Through the recess the chalk and numbers
A boy bumped into her won-won-won- wonderful
All fall down and lost in the mystery
Lost it all to a non-believer
And all that's left is a girl
Who's loved by her mother and father
She'll return in love with her liberty
Just away from the non-believer
She'll sigh and thank God for won-won-won- wonderful
"'Til I Die"

I'm a cork on the ocean
Floating over the raging sea
How deep is the ocean?
How deep is the ocean?
I lost my way
Hey hey hey
I'm a rock in a landslide
Rolling over the mountainside
How deep is the valley?
How deep is the valley?
It kills my soul
Hey hey hey
I'm a leaf on a windy day
Pretty soon I'll be blown away
How long will the wind blow?
How long will the wind blow?
Ohhhh
Until I die
Until I die
These things I'll be until I die
These things I'll be until I die
These things I'll be until I die
These things I'll be until I die
These things I'll be until I die

The diamond necklace played the pawn
Hand in hand some drummed along
To a handsome man and baton
A blind class aristocracy
Back through the opera glass you see
The pit and the pendulum drawn
Columnated ruins domino
Hung velvet overtaken me
Dim chandelier awaken me
To a song dissolved in the dawn
The music hall a costly bow
The music all is lost for now
To a muted trumperter swan
Columnated ruins domino
Canvass the town and brush the backdrop
Are you sleeping, Brother John?
Dove nested towers the hour was
Strike the street quicksilver moon
Carriage across the fog
Two-Step to lamp lights cellar tune
The laughs come hard in Auld Lang Syne
The glass was raised, the fired rose
The fullness of the wine, the dim last toasting
While at port adieu or die

You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
I laughed and shook his hand, and made my
way back home
I searched for form and land, for years and
years I roamed
I gazed a gazley stare at all the millions
here
We must have died alone, a long long time
ago
Who knows, not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

Distill the life that's inside of me

I'm so tired I can't sleep

I'll start this off without any words
I got so high that I scratched 'til I bled
I love myself better than you
I know it's wrong so what should I do?
The finest day that I've ever had
Was when I learned to cry on command
I'm on a plain
I can't complain
My mother died every night
It's safe to say, don't quote me on that
The black sheep got blackmailed again
Forgot to put on the zip code
Somewhere I have heard this before
In a dream my memory has stored
As a defense I'm neutered and spayed
What the hell am I trying to say
It is now time to make it unclear
To write off lines that don't make sense
One more special message to go
And then I'm done then I can go home

Underneath the bridge
The tarp has sprung a leak
And the animals I've trapped
Have all become my pets
And I'm living off of grass
And the drippings from the ceiling
But it's okay to eat fish

If I had to lose a mile
If I had to touch feelings
I would lose my soul
The way I do
I don't have to think
I only have to do it
The results are always perfect
And that's old news
Would you like to hear my voice
sweetened with emotion
Invented at your birth
I can't see the end of me
My whole expanse I cannot see
I formulate infinity

What else should I be
All apologies

My girl, my girl, don't lie to me
Tell me where did you sleep last night
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun don't ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through

I'm going where the cold wind blows

“Dead Flowers”
by The Rolling Stones
Well when you're sitting there in your silk
upholstered chair
Talking to some rich folk that you know
Well I hope you won't see me in my ragged
company
Cause you know I could never be alone
Take me down little Susie, take me down
I know you think you're the queen of the
underground
And you can send me dead flowers every
morning
Send me dead flowers by the mail
Send me dead flowers to my wedding And
I won't forget to put roses on your grave
Well when you're sitting back in your rose
pink cadillac
Making bets on Kentucky Derby Day
Ah, I'll be in my basement room with a
needle and a spoon
And another girl to take my pain away
Take me down little Susie, take me down
I know you think you're the queen of the
underground
And you can Send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flowers by the mail
Send me dead flowers to my wedding
And I won't forget to put roses on your
grave
Take me down little Susie, take me down
I know you think you're the queen of the
underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flowers by the
Say it with dead flowers in my wedding
And I won't forget to put roses on your
grave
No, I won't forget to put roses on your
grave
i heard there was a secret
chord
that david played and it
pleased the lord
but you don't really care
for music, do you
well it goes like this the
fourth, the fifth
the minor fall and the
major lift
the baffled king composing
hallelujah
hallelujah...
well your faith was strong
but you needed proof
you saw her bathing on the
roof
her beauty and the
moonlight overthrew you
she tied you to her
kitchen chair
she broke your throne and
she cut your hair
and from your lips she
drew the hallelujah
hallelujah...
baby i've been here before
i've seen this room and
i've walked this floor
i used to live alone
before i knew you
i've seen your flag on the
marble arch
but love is not a victory
march
it's a cold and it's a
broken hallelujah
hallelujah...
well there was a time when
you let me know
what's really going on
below
but now you never show that to me do you
but remember when i moved
in you
and the holy dove was
moving too
and every breath we drew
was hallelujah
well, maybe there's a god
above
but all i've ever learned
from love
was how to shoot somebody
who outdrew you
it's not a cry that you
hear at night
it's not somebody who's
seen the light
it's a cold and it's a
broken hallelujah
hallelujah...
“Bridge
Over Troubled Water”
by Simon and Garfunkel
When you're weary,
feeling small
When tears are in your eyes,
I will dry them all
I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over
troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and
out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over
troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
When you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like
a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
by John Barry
by
There you stood on the edge of your feather,
expecting to fly.
While I laughed, I wondered whether
I could wave goodbye,
Knowin' that you'd gone.
By the summer it was healing,
we had said goodbye.
All the years we'd spent with feeling
ended with a cry,
Babe, ended with a cry,
Babe, ended with a cry.
I tried so hard to stand
as I stumbled and fell to the ground.
So hard to laugh as I fumbled
and reached for the love I found,
Knowin' it was gone.
If I never lived without you,
now you know I'd die.
If I never said I loved you,
now you know I'd try,
Babe, now you know I'd try.
Babe, now you know I'd try,
Babe.

In a strange gameI saw myself as you knew meWhen the change came,And you had aChance to see through meThough the other sideis just the sameYou can tellmy dream is realBecause I love you,can you see me now. Though we rush aheadto save our timeWe are only what we feelAnd I love you,can you feel it now.

Hello ruby in the dustHas your band begun to rustAfter all the sin we’ve hadI was hopin’ that we turn backOld enough now to change your nameWhen so many love you is it the sameIt’s the woman in you that makes you want to play this game. Old man lying by the side of the road
With the lorries rolling by,
Blue moon sinking from the weight of the
load
And the building scrape the sky,
Cold wind ripping down the alley at dawn
And the morning paper flies,
Dead man lying by the side of the road
With the daylight in his eyes,
Don't let it bring you down - it's only
castles burning,
Find someone who's turning and you will come
around.
Blind man running through the light of the
night
With an answer in his hand,
Come on down to the river of sight
And you can really understand,
Red lights flashing through the window in
the rain,
Can you hear the sirens moan?
White cane lying in a gutter in the lane,
If you're walking home alone,
Don't let it bring you down - it's only
castles burning,
Just find someone who's turning and you will
come around.

He's a perfect stranger,Like a cross of himself and a fox. He's a feelingarrangerAnd a changer of the ways he talks. He's the unforeseen dangerThe keeperof the key to the locks.Know when you see him,Nothing can free him.Step aside, open wide,It's the loner. If you see him in the subway,He'll be down at the end of the car.Watching youmoveUntil he knows he knows who you are. When you get off at your stationalone,He'll know that you are.Know when you see him,Nothing can free him.Stepaside, open wide,It's the loner. There was a woman he knewAbout a year or so ago.She had something that heneededAnd he pleaded with her not to go.On the day that she left,He died, butit did not show.Know when you see him,Nothing can free him.Step aside, open

“My Way”
by Frank Sinatra
And now, the end is near; And so I face the final curtain. My friend, I'll say it clear,I'll state my case, of which I'm certain. I've lived a life that's full.I've traveled each and ev'ry highway; But more, much more than this,I did it my way. Regrets, I've had a few;But then again, too few to mention.I did what I had to doAnd saw it through without exemption. I planned each charted course; Each careful step along the byway,But more, much more than this,I did it my way. Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knewWhen I bit off more than I could chew. But through it all, when there was doubt,I ate it up and spit it out.I faced it all and I stood tall; And did it my way. I've loved, I've laughed and cried.I've had my fill; my share of losing. And now, as tears subside,I find it all so amusing. To think I did all that; And may I say - not in a shy way,"No, oh no not me,I did it my way". For what is a man, what has he got?If not himself, then he has naught. To say the things he truly feels; And not the words of one who kneels. The record shows I took the blows -And did it my way!

Woo
ah, mercy mercy me
Ah things ain't what they used to be, no no
Where did all the blue skies go?
Poison is the wind that blows from the north and south and east
Woo mercy, mercy me, mercy father
Ah things ain't what they used to be, no no
Oil wasted on the ocean and upon our seas, fish full of mercury
Ah oh mercy, mercy me
Ah things ain't what they used to be, no no
Radiation under ground and in the sky
Animals and birds who live nearby are dying
Oh mercy, mercy me
Ah things ain't what they used to be
What about this overcrowded land
How much more abuse from man can she stand?
Oh, na na...

We
skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kind of seasick
The crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned A Whiter Shade Of Pale
She said: "There is no reason
And the truth is plain to see."
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might just as well be closed
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned A Whiter Shade Of Pale
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned A Whiter Shade Of Pale
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned A Whiter Shade Of Pale
“Pale Blue Eyes”
by The Velvet Underground
Sometimes I feel so happy,
Sometimes I feel so sad.
Sometimes I feel so happy,
But
mostly you just make me mad.
Baby, you just make me mad.
Linger on, your pale blue eyes.
Linger
on, your pale blue eyes.
Thought of you as my mountain top,
Thought of you as my peak.
Thought of you as everything,
I've had but couldn't keep.
I've had but couldn't keep.
Linger on, your pale blue eyes.
Linger on, your pale blue eyes.
If I could make the world as pure and strange as what I see,
I'd put you in the mirror,
I put in front of me.
I put in front of me.
Linger on, your pale blue eyes.
Linger on, your pale blue eyes.
Skip a life completely.
Stuff it in a cup.
She said, Money is like us in time,
It lies, but can't stand up.
Down for you is up."
Linger on, your pale blue eyes.
Linger on, your pale blue
eyes.
It was good what we did yesterday.
And I'd do it once again.
The fact that you are married,
Only proves, you're my best friend.
But it's truly, truly a sin.
Linger on, your pale
blue eyes.
Linger on, your pale blue eyes.

“Word On A Wing”
by David Bowie
==============
In this age of grand illusion
you walked into my life out of my dreams
I don't need another change,
still you forced away into my scheme of things
You say we're growing,
growing heart and soul
In this age of grand illusion
you walked into my life out of my dreams
Sweet name, you're born once
again for me
Sweet name, you're born once
again for me
Oh sweet name, I call you
again, you're born once again for me
Just because I believe don't
mean I don't think as well
Don't have to question
everything in heaven or hell
CHORUS
Lord, I kneel and offer you my word on a wing
And I'm trying hard to fit among your scheme
of things
It's safer than a strange land, but I still
care for myself
And I don't stand in my own light
Lord, lord, my prayer flies like a word on a
wing
My prayer flies like a word on a wing
Does my prayer fit in with your scheme of
things?
In this age of grand illusion
you walked into my life out of my dreams
Sweet name, you're born once
again for me
just as long as I can see,
I'll never stop this vision flowing
I look twice and you're still
flowing
Just as long as I can walk
I'll walk beside you, I'm
alive in you
Sweet name, you're born once
again for me
And I'm ready to shape the
scheme of things
Ooh, ready to shape the
scheme of things (5 times)
Ooh...
Lord, I kneel and offer you
my word on a wing
And I'm trying hard to fit
among your scheme of things
It's safer than a strange
land, but I still care for myself
And I don't stand in my own
light
Lord, lord, my prayer flies
like a word on a wing
And I'm trying hard to fit
among your scheme of things
It's safer than a strange
land, but I still care for myself
And I don't stand in my own
light
Lord, lord, my prayer flies
like a word on a wing
My prayer flies like a word
on a wing
Does my prayer fit in with
your scheme of things?

“Slide
Away”
by
Michael Hutchence
Are
you gonna wake again?
Are you gonna take it down?
Oh babe, I wanna deal it
Oh, make it alright.
Gimme some, my love
Away, away, away
I just want to slide away and come alive again
I just want to slide away and come alive again
I will see that love again and find a life again
I just want to slide away and come alive again
I
wanted to let it go
Just couldn't let it go
I wanted to let it go
I just couldn't let you...
I
would catch you (Just couldn't let you go)
I'd catch you as you fall (Just couldn't let it go)
I would catch you (Just couldn't let it go)
I'd catch you if I heard your call (Just couldn't let it..)
But
you tore a hole in space
Like a dark star that falls from grace
You burn across the sky
And I would find you wings to fly
And I would catch you
And I would catch your fall
I
just want to slide away and come alive again
I just want to slide away and come alive again
I will see that love again and find a life again
I just want to slide away and come alive again
I
just want to slide away and come alive again / (Falling, falling oh let it)
I just want to slide away and come alive again / (Oh let it... go)
I will see that love again and find a life again / (Oh let it, go, oh let
it)
I just want to slide away and come alive again. / (Oh let it...)
There
is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're travelling with me
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
Now I'm towing my car, there's a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win
Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only the shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief
Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
Don't ever let them win
“After
the Gold Rush”
by Neil Young
Well, I dreamed I saw the knights in armour
coming,
sayin' something about a queen.
There were peasants singin' and drummers
drummin'
and the archer split the tree.
There's a fanfare blowin' to the sun
that was floating on the breeze.
Look at Mother Nature on the run in the
nineteen seventies.
Look at Mother Nature on the run in the
nineteen seventies.
I was lyin' in a burned out basement
with the full moon in my eyes.
I was hopin' for replacement
when the sun burst through the sky.
There was a band playin' in my head
and I felt like getting high.
I was thinkin' about what a friend had said
I was hopin' it was a lie.
Thinkin' about what a friend had said I was
hopin' it was a lie.
Well, I dreamed I saw the silver spaceships
flyin'
in the yellow haze of the sun,
There were children cryin' and colours
flyin'
all around the chosen ones
All in a dream, all in a dream the loading
had begun.
Flying Mother Nature's silver seed to a new
home in the sun.
Flying Mother Nature's silver seed to a new home.

Everyone is trying to get to the bar.
The name of the bar, the bar is called Heaven.
The band in Heaven plays my favorite song.
They play it once again, they play it all night long.
Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens.
Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens.
There is a party, everyone is there.
Everyone will leave at exactly the same time.
Its hard to imagine that nothing at all
could be so exciting, and so much fun.
Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens.
Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens.
When this kiss is over it will start again.
It will not be any different, it will be exactly
the same.
It´s hard to imagine that nothing at all
could be so exciting, could be so much fun.
Heaven is a place where nothing every happens.
Heaven is a place where nothing every happens.

Someone take these dreams away,That point me to another day,A duel of personalities,That stretch all true realities. That keep calling me,They keep calling me,Keep on calling me,They keep calling me. Where figures from the past stand tall,And mocking voices ring the halls.Imperialistic house of prayer,Conquistadors who took their share. That keep calling me,They keep calling me,Keep on calling me,They keep calling me. Calling me, calling me, calling me, calling me. They keep calling me,Keep on calling me,They keep calling me,They keep calling me.

In Heaven
Everything is fine
In Heaven
Everything is fine
In Heaven
Everything is fine
You got your good thing
And I've got mine
In Heaven
Everything is fine
In Heaven
Everything is fine
In Heaven
Everything is fine
You got a your good thing
And you've got mine
In Heaven
Everything is fine
In Heaven
In Heaven
Everything is fine
You've got a your good thing
And you've got mine
In Heaven
Every thing is fine

- Waltzing Matilda -
Waltzing Matilda whipped out her wallet
Sexy boys smiled in dismay
She took out four twenties,
'cause she liked brown figures
Everybody screamed for a day
Oh, babe, I'm on fire and, you know that I admire your body
Why don't we slip away - hey
Although I'm sure you're certain, it's a rarity me flirtin'
She la la la this way - hey
Oh sha la la la la - sha la la la - hey
Baby, come on, let's slip away
Luscious and gorgeous, oh what a hunk
of muscle
Call out the National Guard
She creamed in her jeans as he picked up her knees
From off
of the formica topped board
And cascading slowly, he lifted her wholly and boldly
Out of this world
And despite people's derision proved to be more than diversion
Sha la la la la later on and then sha la la la la la
He
entered her slowly and showed her where he was coming from
And then sha la la la la he made love to her gently
It was like she never ever come
And then
sha la la la la when the sun rose and he made to leave
You know sha la la la la, sha la la la la
Neither one regretted a thing
- Street Hassle -
Hey, that cunt's not breathing
I think she had too much of something or other
Hey, man, you know what I mean
I don't mean to scare you
But you're the one who came
here
And you're the one who's gotta take her when you leave
I'm not being smart or trying to be pulling my part
And I'm
not gonna wear my heart on my sleeve
But you know people get emotional
And sometimes they just don't act rational
They think they're just on TV - sha la la la, man
Why don't you just slip her away
You know. I'm glad that we met man
It was really nice talking
And I really wish there was a little more time to speak
But you know it could be a
hassle
Trying to explain myself to a police officer
About how it was that your old lady got herself stiffed
And it's not like we could help
But there's nothing no one could do
And if there was, man, you know I would have been the first
Only, someone turns that blue
Well, it's a universal truth
And you just know: That bitch will never fuck again
By the way, that's really some bad shit
That you came to our place with
But you ought be more
careful round the little girls
It's either the best or it's the worst
Since I don't have to choose, I guess I won't
And I know, This is no way to treat a guest
But why don't you grab your old lady by the feet
And just lay her out in the darkest street
And by morning, she's just another hit and run
You know, some people got no choice
And they can never
even find a voice
To talk with that they can even call their own
So the first thing, that they see
That
allows them the right to be
Why, they follow it
You know, it's called bad luck
- Slip Away -
Believe me, that's just a lie
That's what she tells her friends
There's a real song, the real song
She won't even admit it to herself
Narrow heart, the song let's the people know
It's a painful song
It'll only say the truth
It lasts for sad songs
Twenty for wish
Wish it won't make it so a pretty kiss and a pretty face
Can't have it's way
There're tramps like us who were born to pay
Love has gone away
And there's no one here now
And there's nothing left to way
But, oh, how I miss him, baby
Oh, baby, come on and slip away
Come on, baby, why don't you slip away
Love has gone away
Took the rings of my fingers
And there's nothing left to say
But, oh how, oh how I need you, baby
Come on, baby, I need you baby
Oh, please don't slip away
I need your loving so bad, baby, please don't slip away.
by Lou Reed
He was lying banged and battered, skewered and bleeding
talking crippled on the Cross
Was his mind reeling and heaving hallucinating
fleeing what a loss
The things he hadn't touched or kissed his senses
slowly stripped
away
Not like Buddha not like Vishnu
life wouldn't rise through him again
I find it
easy to believe
That he might question his beliefs
The beginning of the Last Temptation
Dime
Story Mystery
The duality of nature, Godly nature,
human nature splits the soul
Fully
human, fully divine and divided
the great immortal soul
Split into pieces, whirling pieces, opposites
attract
From the front, the side, the back
the mind itself attacks
I
know the feeling, I know it from before
Descartes through Hegel belief is never sure
Dime Store Mystery, Last Temptation
I was sitting drumming thinking thumping pondering
the Mysteries of Life
Outside the city shrieking screaming whispering
the Mysteries of Life
There's a funeral tomorrow
at St. Patrick's the bells will ring
for you
Ah, what must you have been thinking
when you realized the time had come for you
I wish
I hadn't thrown away my time
on so much Human and so much less Divine
The end of the Last Temptation
The end of a Dime Store Mystery

mamma
takes this badge from me
I
can't use it anymore it's getting dark to dark to see
feels
like I'm knockin on heaven's door knock knock knocking
on
heaven's door.....
Mama,
take this badge off of me...
I
can't use it anymore...
It's
getting dark, too dark to see...
Feel
I'm knocking on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Mama
put my guns in the ground...
I
can't shoot them anymore...
That
long black cloud is coming down...
I
feel I'm knocking on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Baby
stay right here with me...
'Cause
I can't see you anymore...
This
ain't the way it's supposed to be...
I
feel I'm knocking on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Son
won't you remember me?...
I
can't be with you anymore...
A
lawman's life is never free...
I
feel I'm knocking on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...
Knock..knock..knocking
on heaven's door...

We've been through some things together
With trunks of memories still to come
We found things to do in stormy weather
Long may you run. Long may you run. Long may
you run.
Although these changes have come
With your chrome heart shinin' in the sun
Long may you run
Well, it was back in
When I last saw you alive
But we missed that ship on the long decline
Long may you run.
Maybe the Beach Boys have got you now
With those waves singing'
"Caroline"
Rollin' down that empty road
Get into the surf on time.

I
look at you all, see the love there that's sleeping,
While
my guitar gently weeps.
I
look at the floor and i see it needs sweeping;
Still
my guitar gently weeps.
I
don't know why nobody told you
How
to unfold your love,
I
don't know how someone controlled you,
They
bought and sold you.
I
look at the world and i notice it's turning,
While
my guitar gently weeps.
With
ev´ry mistake we must surely be learning;
Still
my guitar gently weeps.
I
don't know how you were diverted,
You
were perverted too.
I
don't know how you were inverted,
No
one alerted you.
I
look from the wings of the play you are staging,
While
my guitar gently weeps.
As
i'm sitting here doing nothing but ageing;
Still
my guitar gently weeps.

We
carried you in our arms
On
Independence Day,
And
now you'd throw us all aside
And
put us on our way.
Oh
what dear daughter 'neath the sun
Would
treat a father so,
To
wait upon him hand and foot
And
always tell him, "No"?
Tears
of rage, tears of grief,
Why
must I always be the thief?
Come
to me now, you know
We're
so alone
And
life is brief.
We
pointed out the way to go
And
scratched your name in sand,
Though
you just thought it was nothing more
Than
a place for you to stand.
Now,
I want you to know that while we watched,
You
discover there was no one true.
Most
ev'rybody really thought
It
was a childish thing to do.
Tears
of rage, tears of grief,
Must
I always be the thief?
Come
to me now, you know
We're
so low
And
life is brief.
It
was all very painless
When
you went out to receive
All
that false instruction
Which
we never could believe.
And
now the heart is filled with gold
As
if it was a purse.
But,
oh, what kind of love is this
Which
goes from bad to worse?
Tears
of rage, tears of grief,
Must
I always be the thief?
Come
to me now, you know
We're
so low
And
life is brief.

If
your mem'ry serves you well,
We
were goin' to meet again and wait,
So
I'm goin' to unpack all my things
And
sit before it gets too late.
No
man alive will come to you
With
another tale to tell,
But
you know that we shall meet again
If
your mem'ry serves you well.
This
wheel's on fire,
Rolling
down the road,
Best
notify my next of kin,
This
wheel shall explode!
If
your mem'ry serves you well,
I
was goin' to confiscate your lace,
And
wrap it up in a sailor's knot
And
hide it in your case.
If I
knew for sure that it was yours . . .
But
it was oh so hard to tell.
But
you knew that we would meet again,
If
your mem'ry serves you well.
This
wheel's on fire,
Rolling
down the road,
Best
notify my next of kin,
This
wheel shall explode!
If
your mem'ry serves you well,
You'll
remember you're the one
That
called on me to call on them
To
get you your favors done.
And
after ev'ry plan had failed
And
there was nothing more to tell,
You
knew that we would meet again,
If
your mem'ry served you well.
This
wheel's on fire,
Rolling
down the road,
Best
notify my next of kin,
This
wheel shall explode!

You
must leave now, take what you need, you think will last.
But
whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast.
Yonder
stands your orphan with his gun,
Crying
like a fire in the sun.
Look
out the saints are comin' through
And
it's all over now, Baby Blue.
The
highway is for gamblers, better use your sense.
Take
what you have gathered from coincidence.
The
empty-handed painter from your streets
Is
drawing crazy patterns on your sheets.
This
sky, too, is folding under you
And
it's all over now, Baby Blue.
All
your seasick sailors, they are rowing home.
All
your reindeer armies, are all going home.
The
lover who just walked out your door
Has
taken all his blankets from the floor.
The
carpet, too, is moving under you
And
it's all over now, Baby Blue.
Leave
your stepping stones behind, something calls for you.
Forget
the dead you've left, they will not follow you.
The
vagabond who's rapping at your door
Is
standing in the clothes that you once wore.
Strike
another match, go start anew
And
it's all over now, Baby Blue.

They're
selling postcards of the hanging
They're
painting the passports brown
The
beauty parlor is filled with sailors
The
circus is in town
Here
comes the blind commissioner
They've
got him in a trance
One
hand is tied to the tight-rope walker
The
other is in his pants
And
the riot squad they're restless
They
need somewhere to go
As
Lady and I look out tonight
From
Desolation Row
Cinderella,
she seems so easy
"It
takes one to know one," she smiles
And
puts her hands in her back pockets
Bette
Davis style
And
in comes Romeo, he's moaning
"You
Belong to Me I Believe"
And
someone says, "You're in the wrong place, my friend
You
better leave"
And
the only sound thats left
After
the ambulences go
Is
Cinderella sweeping up
On
Desolation Row
Now
the moon is almost hidden
The
stars are beginning to hide
the
fortunetelling lady
Has
even taken all her things inside
All
except for Cain and Abel
And
the hunchback of Notre Dame
Everybody
is making love
Or
else expecting rain
And
the Good Samaritan, he's dressing
He's
getting ready for the show
He's
going to the carnival tonight
On
Desolation Row
Now
Ophelia, she's 'neath the window
For
her I feel so afraid
On
her twenty-second birthday
She
already is an old maid
To
her, death is quite romantic
She
wears an iron vest
Her
profession's her religion
Her
sin is her lifelessness A
nd
though her eyes are fixed upon
Noah's
great rainbow
She
spends her time peeking I
nto
Desolation Row
Einstein,
disguised as Robin Hood
With
his memories in a trunk
Passed
this way an hour ago
With
his friend, a jealous monk
He
looked so immaculately frightful
As
he bummed a cigarette
As
he when off sniffing drainpipes
And
reciting the alphabet
Now
you would not think to look at him
But
he was famous long ago
For
playing the electric violin
On
Desolation Row
Dr.
Filth, he keeps his world
Inside
of a leather cup
But
all his sexless patients
They're
trying to blow it up
Now
his nurse, some local loser
She's
in charge of the cynanide hole
And
she also keeps the cards that read
"Have
Mercy on His Soul"
They
all play on the penny whistles
You
can hear them blow
If
you lean your head out far enough
From
Desolation Row
Across
the street they've nailed the curtains
They're
getting ready for the feast
The
Phantom of the Opera
A
perfect image of a priest
They're
spoonfeeding Casanova
To
get him to feel more assured
Then
they'll kill him with self-confidence
After
poisoning him with words
And
the Phantom's shouting to skinny girls
"Get
Outa Here If You Don't Know
Casanova
is just being punished for going
To
Desolation Row"
Now
at midnight all the agents
And
the superhuman crew
Come
out and round up everyone
That
knows more than they do
Then
they bring them to the factory
Where
the heart-attack machine
Is
strapped across their shoulders
And
then the kerosene
Is
brought down from the castles
By
insurance men who go
Check
to see that nobody is escaping
To
Desolation Row
Praise
be to Nero's
The
Titanic sails at dawn
And
everybody's shouting
"Which
Side Are You On?"
And
Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot
Fighting
in the captain's tower
While
calypso singers laugh at them
And
fishermen hold flowers
Between
the windows of the sea
Where
lovely mermaids flow
And
nobody has to think too much
About
Desolation row
Yes,
I received your letter yesterday
(About
the time the doorknob broke)
When
you asked me how I was doing
Was
that some kind of joke
All
these people that you mention
Yes,
I know them, they're quite lame
I
had to rearrange their faces
And
give them all another name
Right
now, I can't read too good
Don't
send me no more letters no
Not
unless you mail them
From
Desolation Row.
“Redemption
Song”
by
Bob Marley
Old pirates, yes, they rob I;
Sold I to the merchant ships,
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit.
But my hand was made strong
By the 'and of the Almighty.
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly.
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.
Emancipate yourselves from mental
slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them can stop the
time.
How long shall they kill our
prophets,
While we stand aside and look? Ooh!
Some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfil de book.
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.
---
/Guitar break/
---
Emancipate yourselves from mental
slavery;
None but ourselves can free our
mind.
Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a
the time.
How long shall they kill our
prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it's just a part of
it:
We've got to fulfil de book.
Won't you help to sing
Dese songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever had:
Redemption songs -
All I ever had:
Redemption songs:
These songs of freedom,
Songs of freedom.
“Wish
You Were Here”
by Pink Floyd
So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell
Blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish
How I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
